Beige by Cecil Castellucci

One life changing experience,

Katy Ratner gets of the airplane in California and the second she sees her father, she knows this trip is a mistake. She begged her mom to go to Peru, but her mom didn't want her to get in the way.

Katy finds this annoying, because she always used to go on these research trips with her mom, and she was never in the way, she helped. They were a team. But Katy starts to think differently when her mom completely abandons her for the entire summer instead of the planned two weeks.

Katy's father, The Rat, is in a band called Suck. As far as she's concerned, its noise and she can't stand it. Not to mention Sam Suck's daughter Lake has been put on the assignment of keeping her company even though she clearly doesn't want to.

The summer starts to come together little by little when Garth comes into the picture, even though he looks like a girl. Lake starts actually enjoying being around Katy, who she calls Beige and Katy starts enjoying it as well.

She finds herself liking the music and getting along with her father and his girlfriend.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes music, preferably punk or rock. It's a teen reader thats sure to have you sucked into a life where you can relate and enjoy. You just have to have the right rhythm.

Typical teenage life drama...with a twist.

Have you ever been the freak? The cutter? The druggie? Gay? Suicidal?

Meet three teens, Collin, who tried to kill himself by shooting himself in the heart. His parents pressure him, he got his heart broken by the love of his life, or so he thought at the time. He was sent to Aspen Springs to recover with a series of therapy and counseling. Vanessa cuts herself, and went a little too deep, which planted her in Aspen Springs. They all think she stopped, but she really didn't. Haven't ever heard there is no way to stop a cutter from cutting? We can't forget about Tony. He's gay, for a while. Then he isn't. Aspen Springs brings these three teens together in a story of complete truth. How families can be so blind to the obvious. And how love can kill you, but then bring you back from the dead. How things aren't quite what they seem. The story starts with three, Collin, Vanessa, and Tony, but ends with two. Aspen Springs couldn't help who didn't want to be helped.

Let this book take you into a world where you too could fall in love with the characters, and they will break your heart.

Sense someone watching you, or sense someone inside you...

Charley Ditton, is lying in a hospitol bed. And according to her brother Hal, she is half dead. No one is completely sure what happened to her. It was an accident, a terrible accident. Hal doesn't want to be near her, but when his family decides to leave her and go to Cornwall without her, he can't get her out of his mind. Or his body.

At Cornwall for another summer of the beach and sun. But it isn't the same without Charley. Hal hears her breathing. In. Out. In. Out. Like the ocean waves. He can't shake it, no matter how much he wants to.

He wants to remember what happened that night, the night of Charley's accident. He saw, he knew. But he pushed it so far out of his mind that he can't remember without his sister's help. Or Jackie's, Pete's sister.

Jack helps Hal discover love and loss. And Pete and Am go to the last place Pete ever saw and talked to Charley. Hal follows and Charley goes through him to get to Pete before she moves on. She tells the story and we all know the truth.

It was just a terrible accident.

It was a very good book. A little weird, but it's my kind of weird and I really liked it. One of the best I've ever read. I cried at the end when Charley died, but i think I knew it was going to happen. If you like teen love stories with drama I definately reccomend this book to you. It keeps you wondering until the very end, and even after that.

Head Games by Mariah Fredericks

What happens when an online game gets serious?

"Okay, do it now, do it with a smile, do it with a finger up in his face, do it.

No one or two.

No one or two.

Threefourfivesix. Threefourfivesix.

I fix my eyes right upon the screen. No looking away. Press.

After all that, it's easy. Just press and it's done.

Can't take it back now."

Judith is so into the online game. She plays with others online. Doesn't know who they are, where they are. She just plays. But what happens when she realizes the rival in her game is the troublemaker in her apartment building, Jonathan? They make a real life game. They have goals and deals and points. Somehow love gets tangled in with the price.

Judith's mother doesn't like Jonathan though. She doesn't want her daughter to hang out with the troublemaker and having that rub off on her. But Judith doesn't care, she'll do anything to play this game with Jonathan. Even bring him into her house?

If you like teenage romance stories and possible computer games, try this book out. I don't like computer games, but I am a huge fan of this book. It's a great read, and fun. You feel like you know the characters and what their emotions are.

Fablehaven: Grip of the Shadow Plague (Fablehaven) by Brandon Mull

if you ever want to feel as if you are part of a world of magic...

So I finished the book last night after reading it for four hours straight. In one word...uh-may-zing!

Kendra and Seth are still at their Grandparent's at Fablehaven, and their parent want them to come home, but if they do they are in great danger. Their grandfather keeps buying them time to let them stay, but it won't work much longer with school around the corner. Seth has a deal with the satyrs and that is how they find out about the evil nipsies. Not knowing was is causing creatures of light to turn to creatures of darkness, they all set to find out.

With Kendra being fairykind, she gets chosen to be part of the Knights of Dawn. They go to Lot Mesa, another hidden preserve in Arizona to recover a second artifact that the Sphinx wants. They want to keep it from him, not know if he is a traitor or not. But the artifact is already gone. It resides at Fablehaven.

Back at Fablehaven the shadow plague is spreading rapidly now and they still don't know how to stop it. Soon, the Brownies are creatures of darkness and have booby trapped the whole house. Without being able to leave the preserve they all go to the pond.

Kendra talks to the Fariy Queen again and she aids them, after her grandparents, dale, tanu, and warren have been captured by Ephira, the creature creating the shadow plague.

What do they do, and how do they do it? Will Fablehaven finally fall this time, or will they find a way to save it in such a short amount of time?

I recommend this book to Harry Potter readers, and if you like fantasy and magic. Fablehaven will take you away until the very end.

More to the Fablehaven series coming soon!!

Fablehaven by Brandon Mull

Magic as amazing as the name...

Have you ever heard of a magical preserve? A place to keep all magical creatures safe from people wanting to destroy them. There are five magical preserves and Fablehaven is one of them. Kendra and Seth go for a nice visit with their grandparents and little do they know that they will encounter amazing magic and also evil magic.

When they arrive, it is just a normal visit at first, but there grandfather sets clues for them to find out about the preserve on there own.

Viola's milk helps them to see the creatures. Viola is a giant cow by the way. :)

Fablehaven is in trouble when on midsummer's eve Seth opens a window as instructed not to and lets in bad creatures. Now they must save Fablehaven and their grandfather from the evil.

Kendra finds the fairy queen and gets help from her, and together they all....well, read it and find out what happens yourself.

I recommend this book to anyone that like Harry Potter or other fantasy books. It is a great adventure, and there are other books too as it is a series.

Dig a little deeper into the magical world and see what we are missing from being closeminded. Open your mind to the possibilities and pull yourself intop the story.

All in all, great read.

Misery by Stephen King

Gruesome and cynical, yet amazing.

An author is held hostage my a woman who is obsessed with him and his books. He gets in a car accident and his legs are shattered so she takes him to her house to "take care of him". She is not happy with the ending he gave his final book. The main character Misery dies and she wants her alive and so she forces him to write another book bringing her back to life. She gives him drugs and once he gets remotely better she buys him a typewriter so he can begin.

A grusome novel about a crazy lady with intent. When people realize that he is missing and cops come looking for him, she kills the cop by running over his head with the lawn mower. The author realizes he is in trouble and tries escaping many times.

She cuts off his foot. She locks him in the basement. She forces him to take the drugs that he no longer wants.

In the end he tries to kill her and fails, but she gets caught and put in a institution. He is completely traumatized by the events that took place. He knows she is locked away but he still thinks she is everywhere.

He would never live in peace after that experience.

If you like Stephen King, you should definately read this and if you like grusome novels with a lot of details you also should.

Candy by Kevin Brooks

The story of a teen drug addict, and her painful journey to be clean.

He meets Candy at a train station and immediately likes her.

He keeps on trying to find her and talk to her but people he doesn't know won't let him.

When he finally does find her and talk to her, he finds out that she is a crack addict. And she can't stop.

He wants to help her. He takes her to a cabin in the woods and makes her get rid of all her drugs.

The story of a painful cleansing without synthetic drugs to hold her off. She just stopped.

She screamed at him and hit him and hurt herself to try and get more drugs, but he didn't back down.

Then they come after her. The men that he got her away from. The drug dealers and sex addicts. They want her back.

The book is very intense at the end and sad too. Will he get the girl the way he wants her? Or will she go back to the drugs because she can't handle the suffering? We all know the teen stories about love and hurt, but what if the person you fell in love with was addicted to crack? And you tried all you could to help them off and all you got in return was screaming and hitting. Would you give up? Or keep trying until they were finally okay?

This story isn't very predictable, maybe a little at the beginning, but towards the end it gets harder and harder to follow which makes for a good story if you are a good reader.

You can picture everything in your mind and you feel as though you are there and part of this.

Six Months to Live (Mcdaniels, Lurlene. Dawn Rochelle Series, Bk. 1.) by Lurlene McDaniel

Very heartbreaking and sad. The world comes crashing down around a 13 year old girl.

Dawn Rochelle just turned 13. She has yet to finish the 7th grade. She has been diagnosed with lymphotic luekemia cancer, and hospitolized immediately. She endures chemotherapy and loses her hair. She has to take numorous medicines and they constantly make her sick.

She does not go through this alone though. She meets a girl named Sandy. They are roommates in the hospitol. They become best friends and only they understand what the other is going through. Other people act like they do, but they really have no idea.

When they get out of the hospitol they go to a camp with kids for cancer together. They spend six weeks of summer together and then are separated again. Sandy lived far away from Dawn and all they can do is write to each other.

Then Sandy has a relapse. She is hospitolized in Mexico on a non-synthetic medical chemo. She gets fed healthy food and get taken care of great. But she needed the real medicine. Sandy dies at the end of the book. Dawn gets a telegram telling her. She also recieves a box full of Sandy's things. Her journal from their summer camp trip, her hair clips that held back her long blond hair she had before the chemo, and other things.

It is a very sad story and it is a series and I have read all of them I think, and I never get tired of them. Lurlene McDaniel is an amazing author and knows about a lot of diseases.

One Door Away from Heaven by Dean Koontz

It was wierd. It was intense. Scary. Heartbreaking. Well worth it all though.

Dean Koontz is an amazing author. He must study like crazy to get all of the imformation he used just in this one book.

Leilani Klonk is one amazing little girl. Her stepfather, Preston Maddoc, is a bioethicist. He killed her brother Lukipela and is planning on killing her. She has a crippled and hand and a crippled leg, and there was some similar things wrong with Luki and that is why Preston killed him.

A bioethicist is someone who kills people because they think it will make more room for people who can do more good in the world. They kill people like elderly, infants with problems at birth, handicapped people, people with birth defects and deadbeats.

Preston keeps everything really well hidden, including his marraige ti Sinsimilla, Leilani's mother, who is a major druggie. Preston told her that aliens took Luki to heal him and they will bring him back, and Leilani was next.

Michelina Bellsong just came out of jail and is living with her aunt Geneva and a very strange little girl moves in next door.

Curtis Hammond who is really an alien is on the run from the government and people who want a story. He has powers to do things with his mind.

All of these characters end up together in the end, plus Polly and Cass, who befriend Curtis on his journey.

They all help save Leilani from Preston with the help of Noah, an ex PI. It's very intense and slightly disturbing. You wouldn't beleive some of the things Koontz came up with and most likely had to research to write this the way that he did.

It took me kind of a long time to read because you had to really concentrate to follow the story and not miss anything. But it was worth the time it took. It makes you want to meet this little girl named Leilani Klonk.

It is a painful story and sad, but so amazing.
